  • About Us

After decades of dedicated hard work between them, we are now wishing Sheila and Alan Park all the best as they retire. Their warm personalities and immense commitment to our company have left lasting impressions on our team; we will miss them dearly!

Sheila Park

Sheila joined Thomas Smith Fasteners back in 1991, at the age of 20, as an office junior working under Office Manager Dugald Downie and Sales Rep Caroline McLachlan. Through the departures of Dugald and Caroline, Sheila worked her way up to Assistant Manager and then later Office Manager. During those 35 years, she became an integral part of our company by supporting customers in a professional manner and always being reassuring and helpful. Ask anyone who has worked alongside Sheila, and they’ll tell you that she is kind-hearted and very easy to get on with, an efficient worker, and has a brilliant sense of humour. Outside of the office, Sheila describes herself as a “steam train junkie” and is a devoted lover of all heritage railways. It’s fair to say that her passion has also influenced her devotion to this industry. She has become such a central figure for so long that her leaving is a genuine loss to our company.

“Well, 35 years have passed in a flash, it feels. I have had a very rewarding career at Thomas Smith, and I have been very fortunate to have shared the journey with some fantastic colleagues whom I will miss very much. I hope the business will continue to flourish under the new Leadership, and I also wish all the very best for the future to Garton Ltd as a whole.” - Sheila

Alan Park

Alan joined us back in 2022 as a part-time General Operator in our Glasgow warehouse, and in those 4 years he has made some tremendous contributions to our company. He took on the task of reorganising the space, making it more accessible and user-friendly for the whole team; he even went a step further by setting up a new small packaging and kitting area. Due to his dependable nature and strong work ethic, Alan has been someone the team could always count on for support, and his hands-on improvement has made a genuine difference.
